Something sweet
I recently was told one of the sweetest things I've ever heard.
It came from Sam. Sam is the son of Simon. They were both players in my UVG game. Simon died early this year of cancer, and I miss him greatly.
Sam decided to start running his own Ultraviolet Grasslands campaign and invited me to join. As it happens, I'm the only legal adult in the game--everyone else, broadly speaking, is Sam's age, which is to say "in high school."
So I thanked him, saying, "thank you for putting up with an old fart like me," and he replied, "you're not an old fart you're basically the Aragorn to our hobbits," which is one of the sweetest things anyone has ever said to me.
